Bottom Bracket Spacers - one more time

Bike - Calfee frame with 68mm BSA. Crank Shimano DA 7800.
After last bottom bracket replacement the mechanic did not install any spacers on the right or left side.
The shifting has been fine, but now that I'm replacing the bearings again I want to make sure I make the
correct decision on the spacers.
Without the spacers, there is no slop in the spindle, so I don't think the spacers are essential for that purpose.
Should I add the 2.5mm spacer on the right for any other reason?

I note that my big chainring is aligned right about in the middle of my rear cassette without the spacer. With the spacer
it would be a little to the outside.

If it's working OK (or it was with the old BB), I would leave it as is. Especially with a double crank, that I'd try to use on the larger chainring as much as possible, even when using the middle of the cassette (not just the outer couple of sprockets).

Some frame+bb+crank combinations will work fine without any spacers.
