DaVinci Resolve Studio 19 - Render always fails!

I started getting this problem from time to time in the last (or the last two) DaVinci Resolve version - after I try to render a video in the "Deliver" tab, it runs almost until the end and then it throws this:

Error decoding full resolution media for abcfilee.mov at 01:31:15:17.
Please check that the file is accessible and has a valid codec.

This has been happening for the past month or so. I did keep my DaVinci software up-to-date (which is not a good idea).

What's changed in the mean time is that the phone I record most videos with has been updated to the latest IOS (iPhone SE 2). Along with the regular Windows updates.

So, not 100% sure what's causing the problem, but I did run into the same problem.

Quite frustrating. DaVinci Resolve Studio licence is expensive and I was hoping that the software I paid for will keep working.
:(

Further info:
I make 2-3 recordings. Same phone, same day, all the same. I add them to a project. Only one of them keeps showing the error (one of the 2-3 recording files).

I've also noticed this popping up (even when the render/delivery doesn't fail) in the edit tab (the "Media offline" warning, even though the file is on my PC's SSD and opening fine):

DaVinci Resolve Studio showing legit media as being offline

When I put the same file in a new project (without any other clips), the file renders just fine. So, I am pretty certain that it's a bug with DaVinci Resolve Studio 19!

When I get the render error, the video up to that point (including the "problematic clip") is all rendered - just the stuff after that point is not in the exported file.

So, the file that Resolve reports as problematic does in fact get rendered and exported, in its entirety.

Restarting the computer doesn't help. Saving the project in a new file doesn't help.

I've also tried using the Blackmagic's website to contact their support, refering to this, in case the error logs can be shared to help figure out the problem and fix it (the "Create Diagnostics Log on Desktop" option).

I'll post update here if I figure out the problem's cause (even if I don't fix it).

If anyone has any idea, I'd appreciate help. Also posted this on the DaVinci resolve support forum:

EDIT/UPDATE
I've just updated to the latest version (19.1.3 build 7 - from 19.1.2) and that hasn't solved the problem. :(

Other projects (both new and old recordings) are working fine. Colour me puzzled. The problem seems to occur on certain particular videos from time to time (though I record them all using the same phone - same settings for the recording and the project and export). It is frustrating when it happens. If it keeps happening, I'll probably need to look for a different video editing software.

It's very difficult to say anything in this case. I have a very indirect relationship to the video. I can only mention that Shotcut has never failed, either in Windows or Linux environments.
And I hope that the problems will be solved very soon.

I used to use Kdenlive.

My logic when buying DaVinci Resolve Studio was to learn working with software that is considered to be "professional" - because that could allow me to learn one more trade along with my hobby (something I could earn a living with even when injured to work physically).

After some time, I learned the ropes, and managed to do a lot of stuff much simpler and faster with Resolve.

Of course, that's all a waste if the software just stops working. To be fair, this is the first problem after a dozen updates over the years, but it still sucks and prevents me from making videos.

I'll see if it gets fixed in a week or so (technical support is not working on weekends - which sucks), and if it doesn't, I might give Shotcut a try.

A worthy aspiration and desire.
But I'm so lazy... :ROFLMAO:
And if there are no guaranteed conditions for realizing my skills and knowledge, I won't even try. Well, yes, I am like that, and it's too late to change anything 😊
Everything on my YouTube channel is made in Shotcut. And I "chose" it because it is free and has functionality that exceeds my needs in advance. I watched a few lessons, poked at the buttons myself, and started using it.
Now I've forgotten everything again 😂

That sounds perfectly reasonable.

My plan may have been a bit too ambitious - though I often can't know for certain what will work until I give it a try. And I'm still far from a pro video editor, despite having gotten better with the tool.

Yes, everything is quite clear. Nothing ambitious :)
When I was professionally engaged in photography, I was also constantly looking for programs that were better than others in nuances... I had 4 (or 5?) raw-converters alone, which were quite difficult and expensive ;)

I've emailed the support and got no reply (apart from an auto-response) after a week.

Will see how often I run into this bug in the future and see if I should switch to a different video editing software.

When it works, Resolve is good - I find it especially useful for audio fixing/mixing. But bugs are frustrating and cause a lot of time to be wasted. :(

Looking for solutions, I was recommended to try using the (free) Blackmagic Camera smartphone application. It should make the video recordings using a standard format that video editing software can reliably recognize and work with.

Also, I got a reply from the Blackmagic technical support. They took a look at my logs and concluded that the application runs with errors. The suggested solution was to reinstall DaVinci Resolve Studio software. I did just that - ran a complete uninstall and installed a new version from scratch (after a computer reboot).

Will see over the following months if this helped.
