Hi I have the Shimano slm 6000 10 speed shifter has a Shimano 10 speed chain I have the RDM 5120 Shimano rear derailleur I have cslg 10 speed 48 t cassette and it doesn't shift to the gears properly from what I read the m 6000 shifter is not compatible with the derailleur so I ordered the slm 4100 shifter is that going to work for my 51 20 derailleur and 10 speed cassette

Hi,

While I don't remember having tested that particular combination, according to Shimano, RD-M5120-SGS is compatible with both the SL-M4100-R, and the SL-M6000-R shifters.

However, it's fair to note that Shimano doesn't officially recommend using the RD-M5120-SGS rear derailleur with cassettes that have the largest sprocket larger than 42 teeth for 2x, or 46 teeth for 1x drivetrains.

In my experience, Shimano is quite conservative regarding the mix-matching (compatibility). So, I've sometimes been able to get stuff to work fine, even if Shimano officially says it's not compatible - but I've always been able to make stuff work when Shimano says it's all compatible.

That's why I suspect there was some tuning or mounting problem resulting in the SL-M4100-R not working properly (if I understood the problem correctly in the first place).
